The Green Hill division of Red Hill Service Company reflects more than just another company jumping on the “Green Band-wagon”. Our long-term goal has always been to build smarter. This smart building design begins with site selection and carries through the home’s building - right down to the fixture selections. Smart design usually falls within the new “Green Building Standards”, but rather than focusing on these points, our design team focuses on the alterations, which results in a home, which consumes fewer resources and contributes more to the residents’ quality of life as well as their pocket book.

Working with LEED ratings and compliance is great for the elite homeowners and company’s with deep pocket books, but does not fit everyone’s budgets.  At the end of 2008, NAHB-Green gained industry recognition with its new ANSI Approved Green Rating System.  This rating system is available to mainstream homebuilders who would rather build 25 green homes rather than just one super green home. Green Hill continues to work within these parameters for new construction and large remodels, but Green Hill also saw a need for smaller scale renovations. With new construction slowing down, Red Hill Service Company took our “Green Hill Team” and refocused on what can be accomplished with existing homes.  These upgrades applied to existing REO Properties and Apartment Communities will improve their marketability for the banks trying to sell them as well as improve the health and comfort levels for the eventual homebuyers and renters. 

Green Hill found inspiration from the adage of “Reduce, Reuse, and Recycle”. Homes and Communities under Green Hill’s programs seek to reduce the natural resources each Home or Apartment consumes during its life. Key elements we use include low-flow toilets and drip irrigation to reduce water consumption; CFL, motion-sensor lighting and energy star appliances to reduce the electrical needs and smarter choices for building products to reduce the Volatile Organic Chemicals (VOC) in the home.

Reusing resources within a home is also a key “Green Hill Philosophy”. An example is to “Reuse” water from a long shower to flush toilets or irrigate landscape. Capturing the sun’s rays in Photovoltaic Panels and Solar Water Heaters save, not only consumers’ money but, more importantly, save the environment. Composting kitchen scraps and landscape cuttings on-site produces as a nutrient-rich soil additive. Red Hill Service Company strongly believes in educating New Homeowners to recognize the value of reusing grass clippings as mulch and using the sun’s rays to dry clothes. Two of the biggest monthly electrical expenses are heating up water and running the clothes dryer; imagine the financial difference to a family if those two items were eliminated from the electric bill. Recycling takes on many forms in a “Green Hill Home”. First, Red Hill Service Company works with several companies to recycle the building materials removed from a Home or Apartment during renovation. This can be from recycling Used Carpeting into Premium-Grade Commercial Carpet Padding to donating reusable items, such as Doors and Windows, to Restore for other contractors and homeowners to use. Using recycled products in a Home or Apartment is also one of Green Hill’s focuses. Soda bottles are recycled into P.E.T. Carpet, which is soft to the touch, naturally stain resistant and does not fade like standard carpeting. Pair this recycled carpet with VOC-free Seam Tape and Recycled Carpet Padding and you have the Grand Slam of Recycled Flooring. Recycled Glass Countertops are beautiful, durable and easily maintained. Incorporate these items with Formaldehyde-Free Drywall and 0-VOC paints and you have a truly healthy place to call home.

According to Culpepper Pay Practices & Policies Survey of 683 participating organizations in July of 2008, projected increases to base pay are 3.86% per employee upon the completion of each year of service.
